October 13, 2019 – With the completion of our flight mission orientation yesterday, final details are completed to carry out our October 19, 2019 Honor Flight to our nation’s capital.
Honor Flight Central Florida will be carrying out our final flight mission in 2019. We are excited to provide an Honor Flight for another 24 of our Central Florida hometown heroes that served their country and all of us during the WWII, Korea and Vietnam eras. Our tour of honor will take us to witness the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, the Women in Service Memorial, the Air Force Memorial, the Iwo Jima Marine Corps Memorial, and the WWII, Korea and Vietnam Veterans Memorials in our nation’s capital.
We are pleased to share that we have partnered with our good friends at the Cox Media Group in their support of our organization and mission. CMG will have two of their on-air personalities joining us on our October 19 flight mission as Guardians to two of our Veteran Honorees. Both Joe Kelley of 96.5 WDBO, and Obie Diaz of K92 Country, will participate in personally honoring our Veterans as part of the Cox Media Group support of our efforts and this flight mission.
We hope that all of you can join in a great surprise welcome home for our heroes on their arrival back to Orlando International Airport (MCO) to honor their service and sacrifices. We want their day of honor to conclude with a display of gratitude and patriotism, so bring some signs, display Old Glory, and wear your red white and blue best. Be sure to bring the kids, because this is a true American family event, and our most Senior heroes deserve our adulation and respect.
Meet the welcoming public in terminal A next to Starbucks on the departure level where we enter the terminal around 10:30 PM. Our group will be arriving on Southwest Airlines flight #3817 due in at 10:20 PM. Please be sure to check with Southwest for our on time arrival before heading to the airport. We hope you’ll share this special event with your friends and family and encourage all of them to attend so we can give our heroes the welcome home they never got when they concluded their service.
Although all seats are full for this flight mission, we encourage Veterans of WWll, Korea and Vietnam to apply to fly with us in 2020. We also encourage those interested in serving as Guardians to our heroes on a future Honor Flight mission to apply soon to assure seating in 2020. Applications can be found at http://www.honorflightcentralflorida.org.
