August 27, 2017 – Due to circumstances beyond our control, our September 16th Honor Flight Mission has been cancelled and split in to two separate, newly rescheduled Flight Missions on Saturday, October 7th and Saturday, October 21st.
After being informed of certain political rallies and protest occurring on the National Mall on September 16th, and receiving advise from the National Park Service Police of likely safety and access concerns as a result, and a recommendation to reschedule that day’s plans, Honor Flight Central Florida chose to split up the large group making the Honor Flight that day, in to two separate and smaller flights. With the safety of all of our travelers the primary concern, and unfettered access to the WWll, Korea and Vietnam Memorials an additional concern, the decision to make the changes was an easy one for our Board of Directors.
We are very pleased that the many points of contact we work with to organize and carry out our Flight Missions were able to accommodate a sudden and necessary change of our plans and look forward to the two newly announced Flight Missions. This allows all those who support our Welcome Home Events the chance to attend two very special homecomings for our heroes.
PLEASE SAVE THE DATES AND PLAN TO JOIN OUR WELCOME HOME EVENTS ON SATURDAY EVENING OCTOBER 7TH, AND SATURDAY EVENING OCTOBER 21ST AT ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MCO). WE WILL BE ARRIVING AT 9:55pm (ON BOTH DATES), VIA SOUTHWEST AIRLINES FLIGHT #3639 (ALSO BOTH DATES) FROM BALTIMORE (BWI). PLAN TO BE IN THE ATRIUM IN TERMINAL A, NEXT TO STARBUCKS BY 10:15pm TO JOIN EITHER EVENING’S HOMECOMING EVENTS. PARTICIPATION OF THE PUBLIC IS ENCOURAGED – WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE TO PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN HONORING OUR HEROIC VETERANS OF WWll, KOREA AND VIETNAM WITH THE HOMECOMING THEY RIGHTLY DESERVE!
